WhatsApp custom lists are here to help you keep track of convos

WhatsApp recently announced the Custom Lists feature, which will help users keep track of conversations that are happening frequently. It’s basically a refined version of the Chat Filters feature, which was released earlier this year.

The aptly named Lists tool lets people filter chats through a number of custom categories. Users can create lists for family members, friends, co-workers, neighbors, or anyone else. The platform says these tools “help you focus on the conversations that matter most, when you need them.”

Just like the Favorites feature, users can add both group chats and one-on-one chats to any list. Look for the “+” icon in the filter bar at the top of the Chats tab to get started. WhatsApp is rolling out this update today, but it’s a tiered rollout, so it may take a few weeks to reach everyone.

This is just the latest update to the world’s most loved chat app. The platform has announced that users can now add contacts from any device, not just the primary smartphone associated with the account. WhatsApp recently hit 100 million users in the US, though that figure pales in comparison to the two billion users worldwide.

Sonos CEO Patrick Spence is resigning from the company after eight years on the job, Bloomberg reports. This comes after last year’s disastrous app launch, in which the redesign was missing key features and broke in nearly every major way.

The company has tasked Tom Conrad with steering the ship as interim CEO. Conrad is currently a member of the Sonos board, but he was also a co-founder of Pandora, a VP at Snap, and briefly the head of product at video streaming platform Quibi. He also reportedly has a Sonos tattoo. The board has hired a firm to find a new long-term leader.

“I think we can all agree that we have disappointed a lot of people this year,” Conrad wrote in a letter to employees. “Getting back to basics is necessary, but clearly not enough, to unlock the future we all envision for Sonos.” He also suggested he wants the company to expand far beyond home speakers and related devices.
