It’s been a Mac-heavy week! In this episode, Devindra and producer Ben Elman dive into all of Apple’s new M4 hardware: the new iMac, the Mac mini, and the refreshed Macbook Pros. The Mac mini, in particular, looks like it’s going to be a huge hit for people who need a simple desktop system. Plus, we discuss why Apple is pushing to include at least 16GB of RAM in every Mac. This will benefit all users, regardless of whether they care about Apple intelligence.

The device features an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display that’s sadly limited to a 60Hz refresh rate. The lack of a Face ID sensor and the lack of one of the M-series chips present in Apple’s flagship iPads are our other big gripes with this tablet.
But it’s a solid tablet otherwise. The iPad mini 7 runs on the same chipset as the iPhone 15 Pro and Apple has doubled the base storage from the previous generation. It weighs 0.65 pounds, so you won’t have too much trouble holding it in one hand.
The Touch ID sensor is built into the power button, and there are stereo speakers and good cameras (12MP on each side). Like nearly all other Apple devices these days, the iPad mini 7 has a USB-C port instead of a Lightning port. Speaking of which, the tablet should last up to 10 hours before needing a recharge. And although there’s no cellular connectivity here, the iPad mini 7 does support Wi-Fi 6E.
I think my deep dislike of NVIDIA’s ACE-powered AI comes down to this: there’s simply nothing engaging about it. No joy, no warmth, no humanity.
Every ACE AI character feels like a developer cutting corners in the worst way possible, as if you’re watching their contempt for the audience manifest in the form of a boring NPC. I’d much rather scroll through some on-screen text, at least I don’t have to interact with weird robot voices.
